It is paradise to you, but it could be a little bit better with patio cushions. Thick soft cushions up the comfort level of your furniture and help add a splash of your personal style. With so many colors and patterns available you could change the look of your patio every season. Make it red and green in the winter, use oranges and yellows in the fall, bright candy colors in the summer, and soft pinks and greens in the spring.

Whatever color scheme you decide on, your cushions will be soft to the touch yet rugged enough to withstand the elements, so you can enjoy them season after season. And at two and a half to three inches thick you’ll want to keep them around for awhile. Patio cushions are available for all types of furniture from chairs and couches to swings and lounges. The best and easiest way to really see all the colors and styles available is by shopping online. You won’t have to spend time going from store to store when you would rather be lounging on your patio. You could even do your shopping from your patio if you have a wireless internet connection. One click of the mouse and you’ll be relaxing in style before you know it.

Brighten your patio furniture with some new patio cushions and you will love your patio furniture even more. Sure just having outdoor furniture is a luxury, but why not increase its lavishness with some thick cushions. Throw in some pillows for a little extra comfort and color, and you’ll be amazed that your outdoor furniture is just as comfortable as your indoor furniture. Your patio will become your favorite room in the house. If you’re indulging in strong, durable patio furniture like teak, you will surely want to get the most use out of it that you can. Adding patio cushions will help you with this quest.

Soft textures and cloud-like thickness along with bright solids and vibrant stripes will dress up any seat on your patio with welcoming relaxation. Gone are the days of your childhood with sticky vinyl covered cushions that soaked up water like a sponge. Now, patio cushions and pillows look and act better. Available in almost every color under the sun, they are water and mildew resistant, yet plush, cushy and so soft against your skin. Also fade resistant, you can leave your patio cushions out all summer long and they will be just as bright next year. So, finding something that suits your style and works hard is easier than ever.

Whether you want just a few pillows for a burst of color or you want to pamper yourself with cushiony comfort for every seat on your patio it has never been easier to do. So, enjoy your backyard retreat everyday while you lounge on your new patio cushions.

Would germs from garden get into bloodstream of dog with bleeding quick?

I cut my dog's claws and just as I was about to cut one of them, she moved and it cut through the quick and started to bleed. I immediately bathed it with TCP, covered it with a human plaster, then cotton wool to pad it and put a sock on top.

I read elsewhere how flour can stop it bleeding, but what concerns me is if she pulls off the sock leaving the 'open wound' while she's in the garden, would dirt from the garden get into my dog's bloodstream or does it soon heal up?

I was really annoyed with myself as I'm always so careful, but she moved at the wrong time and I doubt she'll let me do it again!

Thanks

Sure, it could get infected from anything, but most likely she'll be just fine. I've snipped my scottie's quick once or twice. you might want to get some styptic powder just in case this happens again. It will stop the bleeding immediately. Unless she starts limping or acting as though it bothers her, she's ok.

Would germs from garden get into bloodstream of dog with bleeding quick?

Ceating a Splendid Look for Your Patio

I know we all simply adore the finer things in life. We go about buying designer clothes that can be only wore once or forever branded as an outfit repeater. Ladies boasts about their Jimmy Choo shoes and fling their hands around to show off their big diamond rings. Guys are not so different either. Punk wannabes would walk around with a limited edition jersey on their back with a huge silver or gold pendant stringed on a necklace.

In our conquest to live life luxuriously, our home must be of equal style and magnificence. Even the tiles in our bathroom are of most exquisite and definitely are imported. Cushions are curtain will be of no other fabric lesser than silk or satin. We never knew other TV other than plasma TV and expensive art work grace our walls. All these items are cared for everyday by our helpers without fail.

For the large portion of us; we would not be able to afford luxury in every aspect of our life. Not all of us are blessed with great fortune. We are more likely to plan our bugdet before planning to buy most things else we end up broke.

However, we do not need to have expensive stuff lying around our house to make us feel rich. All of us have a hidden asset hidden right under our noses in our homes. It is none other than the…patio.

Many overlook their garden just because it is just a piece of land outside the house and thinks that maintaining it may be a waste of time and effort. Nurturing your garden and proving lounge area in which you can use to better enjoy your garden is probably the best investment you can do in order to provide luxury to your home. A beautiful garden complimented by a stunning set of patio will create a grand atmosphere at home.

First, you need to get a brilliant set of patio, preferably something that compliment your garden. Some of the items that should be considered are tables, chairs and a rocking chair. There many different kind of materials for patio furniture; plastic and iron to name a few. Make sure you select the most ideal material for your need and the look you want to create. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of these materials such as plastic may be cheap but it will not create the look of luxury for your patio.

Teak is another favorite type of material for patio furniture. Not only is it study and strong, it also projects the grand look. Teak is actually good quality wood such as alder, Northern white cedar and Javanese teak. Teak is manufactured by the likes of Kingsley-Bate and Diamond Teak which represents esteemed names in this industry. Be sure to know what you are after; because some furniture may not be splendid in the looks department but is robust and sturdy.

Apart from using teak, wicker furniture set is highly favored too between consumers alike. These strong but lightweight furniture makes it one of the most valued items in the world of patio furniture. Since patio furniture is left outside, the rate of deterioration is higher compared to the furniture indoors. The high density of moisture and intense sun heat can damage the tables and chairs. With wicker patio furniture set, it lasts longer than plastic and it looks better too. Of course it cannot be compared to a wrought iron set but in terms of value for money, wicker furniture definitely holds the throne. Besides, a wicker patio furniture set gives a very dreamy mood and a relaxing sensation as it is normally associated with beaches and tropical islands. You can now have your very own island paradise right in the middle of your own house.

You should have patio cushions if you wish to turn your patio into a place more comforting and inviting. Patio cushion must be the ones design for the outdoor and will have qualities such as waterproof and fade resistant and able to tolerate the harsh environment.

You are just one step closer to the dream patio. All you need now is just a patio heater. Doesn’t matter come hail, rain, shine or snow, you do not have an excuse not to indulge in the splendid patio you have created. Most patio heaters come with battery operated system, leaving your garden free of wire tangles and accidental tripping here and there. Of course, the patio cannot turn the coldest winter day into the hottest summer. However, by raising the temperature by a few degrees, everyone will feel comfortable while having an enjoyable picnic during an autumn evening.

A Case of Murder by Vernon Scannell ?

A case of murder by vernon scannell ?

They should not have left him there alone,
Alone that is except for the cat.
He was only nine, not old enough
To be left alone in a basement flat,
Alone, that is, except for the cat.
A dog would have been a different thing,
A big gruff dog with slashing jaws,
But a cat with round eyes mad as gold,
Plump as a cushion with tucked-in paws—
Better have left him with a fair-sized rat!
But what they did was leave him with a cat.
He hated that cat; he watched it sit,
A buzzing machine of soft black stuff,
He sat and watched and he hated it,
Snug in its fur, hot blood in a muff,
And its mad gold stare and the way it sat
Crooning dark warmth: he loathed all that.
So he took Daddy's stick and he hit the cat.
Then quick as a sudden crack in glass
It hissed, black flash, to a hiding place
In the dust and dark beneath the couch,
And he followed the grin on his new-made face,
A wide-eyed, frightened snarl of a grin,
And he took the stick and he thrust it in,
Hard and quick in the furry dark.
The black fur squealed and he felt his skin
Prickle with sparks of dry delight.
Then the cat again came into sight,
Shot for the door that wasn't quite shut,
But the boy, quick too, slammed fast the door:
The cat, half-through, was cracked like a nut
And the soft black thud was dumped on the floor.
Then the boy was suddenly terrified
And he bit his knuckles and cried and cried;
But he had to do something with the dead thing there.
His eyes squeezed beads of salty prayer
But the wound of fear gaped wide and raw;
He dared not touch the thing with his hands
So he fetched a spade and shovelled it
And dumped the load of heavy fur
In the spidery cupboard under the stair
Where it's been for years, and though it died
It's grown in that cupboard and its hot low purr
Grows slowly louder year by year:
There'll not be a corner for the boy to hide
When the cupboard swells and all sides split
And the huge black cat pads out of it.

I am writing a critical essay on this poem in english for level F reading, i am in year 8 (s2).
Do you have any comments on it, anything about the poem.

Shrink 2 Sizes in 1 Hour?????!?

Shrink 2 sizes in 1 hour?????!?

ok. in the magazine called First, the May 28th, 2007 issue, (a magazine for woman by the way) there is an article that says you can shrink 2 sizes in one hour. this is how it says to do it:
Step 1: Set a spa-like mood in your bathroom with music and candles, or have a book on hand to make this 30-minute treatment pass by quicker.
Step 2: Mix 1/4 cup dried or powdered seaweed with 1/4 cup water to make a thick paste.
Step 3: Spread towels in the bathtub to create a cushion. Smooth the paste all over your body, then wrap a mylar sheet around you like a cocoon.
Step 4: Lie on the towel & let the mud (paste) dry for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Unwrap the mylar & remove the towels from the tub. Take a warm shower to rinse off the seaweed mixture. Pat skin dry, the apply fav. moisturizer.
My question is, is there any place around or in Topeka, KS, or St. Joe, MO, that I can buy the seaweed & mylar sheets without having to by them online? I really want to see if this works.

This is the silliest thing I've heard in a long time. I wouldn't waste my time or money. the only thing you are going to get out of this treament is a smaller bank account and maybe some needed meditation time.

Sorry, the only thing that is going to shrink is your wallet.

You may see a small temporary change, but as soon as you drink water and rehydrate, you will go back to where you were.

Two dress sizes is 40 pounds. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

yeah that just sound ridiculous. you'd be better off exercising.

i dont think thats possible, and even if it is, the two sizes you lost are gonna come back later on that day, or the next day!!

-peace

thats similar to a body wrap at a salon
yes you WILL lose inches but mainly water weight, and its temporary.
spas will have body wraps its where they put a paste stuff on you, wrap you up, and some put almost a rubber like suit on you..then after awhile when it needs to be taken off you will have sweated out tonss of water weight and therefore have lost inches.
they measure ur results and give u advice on how to keep it off. it will probably cost more than wat u described, but it would be a lot easier then what u just explained, and will give u better results.
to REALLY lose weight and keep it off, the only way is eating healthy meals and exercise though.

It sounds basically like a sea weed wrap which you can get at most spas. and you CAN lose inches off of your body which may result in a couple sizes, HOWEVER the results are only temporary. some results can last up to a week if repeated often but most results last a few hours to a day. My suggestion is consult a spa tech who does sea weed wraps to see if it's worth all the money and time spent

Shrink 2 sizes in 1 hour?????!?

Weatherproof Storage Box?

1285135260 50 Weatherproof storage box?

I live in a very crowded apartment, so would like to find a box, about 120 litre, that I can keep on my balcony to store things in. The outside measurements would need to be at least 750mm x 500 mm and (because of a particular thing I'd like to store) the inside measurement at least 430mm high. it needs to be weatherproof and especially UV proof as it is a west facing balcony. it is equally important for the rain not to get in. I would prefer to somehow make it do double duty – like put a cushion on top to make it a seat, or make it a table, as the balcony isn't very large either. I would also like it to be on wheels, mainly so that it is off the ground and the rain can run off the balcony, under it. I have no idea where to look for such a thing. I presume it would need to be made (possibly too expensive) but as I said, where do I go? All the plastic boxes I've seen are for indoor use (or the sales assistant isn't sure). I am in Melbourne, Australia

We've got them in North America, they're called deck boxes, made of plastic, Rubbermaid makes them and I'm sure there are other makes. If you can't find one with wheels, just put a couple of pieces of wood under it.

Evacuees Take Refuge as Aftershocks Continue

1284962495 65 Evacuees take refuge as aftershocks continue

Distraught Christchurch residents who have evacuated their damaged homes are now left wondering when their lives could possibly return to normal.

Hundreds who spent the night at emergency evacuation centres are staying on again tonight, afraid to return to houses with cracked ceilings and walls that creaked during the many aftershocks.

the 7.1 magnitude earthquake caused damage which could reach $2 billion to homes, buildings and infrastructure, and left thousands homeless. Authorities believe it could be weeks before all the damage was assessed and people were allowed back into their homes.

many homes would never be lived in again and would be demolished because of the damage.

About 230 people spent the night at the three centres at Linwood College, Burnside High School and Addington Raceway but the Red Cross said they expected many more tonight.

Sarah McElroy, 19, fled to Addington Raceway after midnight, too rattled to stay at home.

She plans to take refuge in the solid concrete centre for days to come, sleeping on cushions in a large hall.

“They’ll let us stay here until things settle. It’s too frightening at home,” Ms McElroy said.

Red Cross spokeswoman Rosemarie North said people needing emergency shelter should try to take stretchers and blankets to the centres if possible. They should also take medication and baby food.

“It would be helpful if they could bring their own bedding but they should definitely still turn up. we will find something for them,” she said.

“Food is not a problem.”

the priority was to offer people a safe and warm environment and a shoulder to learn on if they needed one. Counselling was available.

Yanni Tromp, who was running the Red Cross emergency centre at Linwood College, said today the trauma was reducing many people to tears.

She said yesterday in the first few hours after the earthquake people were dealing with the practicalities of getting food and shelter but today it was dawning on them they would have to find somewhere else to live if their homes were demolished or would takes weeks to repair.

“It is starting to sink in. we are starting to see more nervous and upset people than yesterday.

“Yesterday people took it more or less on the chin”, but more were fighting off tears today, she said.

many people were at the centre because their homes had no power, no water and no sewage.

apart from the needs for food and shelter, many displaced people just needed a bit of a hug.

“Most of them will need a shoulder to lean on,” said Ms Tromp.

Red Cross workers were heading to Christchurch from around the South Island and 2400 blankets were being sent from Auckland as priority cargo on a commercial flight.

“On the same flights we are going to get down 1950 4m by 6m tarps because so many houses have been damaged and are not weatherproof,” Ms North said.

Civil Defence said rebuilding would still take weeks but already Christchurch Hospital is getting a stream of people with minor injuries from trying to fix their houses.

A man had fallen off trying to repair his roof when an aftershock hit, a spokeswoman said.

Kenneth McCaul, in Kaiapoi, said this morning he had a builder on his roof trying to securely cover holes before winds struck.

he had relocated from Perth in March into a newly-renovated two storey house. he had filled it with antiques – now it is filled with rubble, broken furniture and a chimney. Mr McCaul is fed-up.

“I want to get out of here. Perth sounds real good right now.”

Lounge cushion, beige ! – CrisGB – Boston, MA, USAI’ve got this lounger cushion to go with our Strathwood Camano lounge chaise. I have the Strathwood Camano sectional set, which comes with its neutral colored cushions, but I had to get this cushion separate. The main reasons this is not 5 stars are:1. it’s not included with the chaise lounge as the other cushions are with their respective chairs2. it’s not the same “Neutral” color as those other cushions, it’s rather more a “Natural” color, meaning ivory/fiber like instead of off-white3. it’s not the same all weather material covering, this one feels a little more plasticky to the touch than the one on the other cushions of the setOtherwise, it seems good quality, and it’s nice and cushionny.

Please Tell Me What You Think of My Story?

Please tell me what you think of my story?

Please tell me what you think of my story?
It is a normal spring day, and I decide to have my lunch break in the local park, the weather is good, warm enough for summer clothes, yet not hot enough to complain about.
I sit on a bench under the shade of a tree, the wind blowing through the tree causing shadows to dance on the well-maintained lawn. the park is a hive of activity today, an assortment of people, professions and past times. a man walks past me in his well pressed business suit, he is not much younger than me, he is talking on his mobile phone, a little to loudly than necessary, trying to sound important to those in earshot of him, or trying to sound important to himself.
An elderly couple is sat on a picnic blanket on the lawn, their silver hair shining in the afternoon sun, homemade sandwiches and cakes in brown paper bags, their faces are content, yet their eyes tell a different story, for after a life time of love, sharing and companionship, should one of them pass, the other would be truly alone.
A young female runner runs past them, her toned body a billboard for her generation, her even strides cushioned by the latest running shoes and designer sunglasses to block out the sun. Tight fitting running clothes, to either enhance her performance, or to leave those who look at her an object of desire, sexual and envious, covers her body.
She runs past a group of teenage school kids, as she passes the boys they mimic the bounce of her breasts with their hands, much to the annoyance of the girls who roll there eyes.
A young couple walk past hand in hand, smiles on their faces as they watch their young toddler kick a bright orange ball, he squeals with delight, his rosy cheeks and innocent eyes oblivious to the hardships he will one day face, but for now he is content will sugar coated treats and colourful images on the T.V.
A small bird takes my attention, a sparrow I think, he is doing a little hop type of dance in front of a cluster of bushes, he then darts into them, coming out with a small bug in his beak, he then flies up into a tree, he returns moments later to do the same thing again.
Yet the more I watch his antics the more I wonder about him.
I wonder if he is feeding his young, is this instinct that drives him to do this, or is it a parental love? will he get frustrated if he cannot get enough food?
Will his little heart swell with pride when his young take flight for the first time? Does he know of love? Does his heart skip a beat when he sees his mate? Or will it break when one day she does not return? Does he know of fear? will he cower in the treetops when a storm comes crashing down upon him? Does he know of racism? Do other birds treat him unkind because he is not the same breed as they? Does he know of joy? will he sing that little bit better when the sun is shinning on a clear day? Does he know of God and the creation? is he aware of me as i am of him, and knows of man, war and death?
If he is aware of all of these then I feel sorry for him, for why should he suffer the folly’s of man, and yet if he is not aware I am equally sorry for him for the wonder of life is a thing to behold and the joy and sorrow it brings is a thing to be shared by all

by the things obsered almost all are positve and playfull then the assumption this young child will be misserable and angry i thinkthe child will enjoy the thing you are witnesing joy and happyness

That sounds more like an autobiography of someone who is very passionate in observing things around him but it is still very great and detailed

I think your story is a lie

its very very good but a little too detailed for me

oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh too long to read

Except for a few grammatical errors ("a little to loudly than necessary", "an elderly couple is sat on a picnic blanket", etc – sorry, i hate bad grammar!), it's pretty well written.
However, everything you describe is kind of unrealistic. It's not that none of these types of people exist, but if I went to a park I don't think this setting is what I would see. maybe that's just me, but in this way I found it hard to relate.
That said, there would not be a story without all of this, so I'm unsure of my final verdict. It was a pretty good story, but I couldn't relate very well.

The bad news:

I think your story is probably too long to get many answers on a YA-type format.

Don't forget, too much of something is not spelled "to."

Watch out for superfluous commas…

The good news:

I think it's a great story.

I think you possess a good command of grammar and spelling, which is imperative for any writer.

I think you have a great talent for narrative.

I think you should continue writing, you're going to do well with it.

Please tell me what you think of my story?

Patio Cushions – Keep Them Clean With Ease

One unpleasant and unavoidable fact about patio furniture is that it is subject to the elements. It’s fun and healthy to spend time outside, but it would certainly be better if the outdoors wasn’t so darn full of dirt and weather. The less pleasant aspects of nature seem to wreak havoc on everyone’s patio cushions. Before you know it, your cushions have gathered a plethora of stains and marks, as well as their own tiny ecosystem of flora! Thankfully, cleaning stains off of patio cushions is really very simple, once you know how.

How you clean them depends, partly, on what your particular cushions are made of. Most can be maintained and cleaned regularly with a mild mixture of warm water and liquid soap. For the smaller weaves; such as woven cushions, olefin, or marquesa blends; a mild laundry detergent and water can be used. Just spray your soap and water mixture onto the cushions and scrub with a damp sponge. The cushions can then be rinsed off with a garden hose.

For more stubborn stains and for cases of mildew growth, most patio cushions can be treated with a mixture of one cup bleach to a gallon of water. Be sure to check the care labels on your cushions before using bleach, but you will generally find it is safe to use without damaging the fabric or the color. If you no longer have the tags, spot test the bleach mixture on a small section of fabric. Polyester cushions may be faded or damaged by bleach, but others stand up well to this treatment. Spray the mix on with a household spray bottle and scrub lightly with a sponge or brush. Be sure to rinse the cushions thoroughly with clean water after using bleach or any other cleaning solution.

To avoid long term staining and to lengthen the life of your patio cushions, try to avoid getting suntan lotions and oils directly onto the fabric. When you go out to tan, take a towel and use it to cover and protect your cushions. The chemicals and oils in tanning products will shorten the life of your cushions and leave dark, oily stains over time. If you do get suntan lotion or tanning oil on your cushions, clean it quickly with a mix of warm water and mild soap or detergent to avoid letting it soak in. It will only take you a few seconds and will save you a lot of hard scrubbing later on.

To maintain the look and comfort of your cushions, try to give them a good soap and water rinse at least once a month and a thorough rinsing with the hose. During harsh weather and the colder months, when you won’t be using your cushions and they are at the most risk for damage, bring your cushions inside or cover them up. You will be glad you did.

Just a little bit of care and maintenance and a touch of prevention are all it takes to assure that your patio cushions stay looking brand new for years to come. Just because your patio furniture is outdoors doesn’t mean you have to let the outdoors get to it. Enjoy the comfort of your cushions without worry over unsightly stains or icky mildew.
